Image: Andre Ward bored by Froch-Mack fight, no interest in following itBy Scott Gilfoid: Former Carl Froch conqueror WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward says he won’t even bother taking in Froch’s fight tonight against Yusaf Mack because Ward doesn’t see it as a relevant fight. In other words, Ward isn’t interested in seeing Froch face a hand-picked opponent selected from the light heavyweight division rather than from the top rungs of the super middleweight division.

Commenting on his social media site on twitter Ward said “Honestly, really not interested in the fight. Looking forward to the HBO fights tonight!! I’m picking [Adrien] Broner and [Seth] Mitchell. They both should be good fights. Froch fans keep saying it wasn’t him in the ring the night we fought…then who was it…his twin brother??!! Froch Fans: Ride with your guy, but the things you say have to make since…ok??!! Froch said he wasn’t himself when we fought, because he was HOME SICK. Question: Why do I HAVE TO rematch Froch in the UK?”

So true, so true. Why does Ward have to come to the UK to fight Froch when he already whipped him in the past. Ward still has Froch’s World Boxing Council title, and if Froch wants to avenge that loss and recapture his title he’s going to have to travel to Ward’s lair in Oakland, California and fight him in the Bay Area. Good luck winning, Froch.

It is interesting how Froch has come up with excuses for his loss to Ward, saying he wasn’t himself that night. Ward doesn’t like the fact that Froch isn’t giving the full credit that he deserves for beating him so soundly in the Super Six tournament finals.

I don’t blame Ward for not wanting to see Froch’s fight with Mack tonight. It’s not as if Froch is facing one of the best fighters from the super middleweight division. Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn should have gotten one of the top 15 contenders over for this fight instead of selecting a light heavyweight and having him boil down in weight to fight Froch. That just doesn’t make sense at all unless the idea is to get an easy opponent.
