Arslan, #8 WBO, seems to have been hand-picked for no other reason that he’s born in Germany and is well known among the boxing fans there. Arslan couldn’t have been picked out for what he’s done recently because he’s coming off of a draw against Alexander Alekseev and was stopped in the 11th round two years ago by Steve Herelius.

Arslan’s only wins in the last two years have come against weak 2nd tier opposition, although you can make a pretty good argument that Arslan deserved to get the win against Alekseev last May. He didn’t, though, which is why this fight is yet another disappointing one for Huck. He’s not exactly gone out of his way to fight the best cruiserweights in the division during his time as the WBO cruiserweight champion. When Huck has fought quality opposition in Ola Afolabi and Denis Boytsov, it’s come when those guys were his mandatory challenger and he had to fight them.

The rest of the time, Huck has been matched up against guys like this: Hugo Hernan Garay, Ran Nakash, Matt Godfrey, Brian Minto and Adam Richards. Huck did take a chance last February when he moved up to heavyweight to take on the weakest of the champions in WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin. However, Huck was too wild to win the fight, and ended up losing it by a 12 round majority decision.

Huck, 27, has the power and youth advantage over the 42-year-old Arslan and that should be more than enough for Huck to get the victory in this fight. He’s not going to waste time trying to out-box Arslan because it’s simply much easier to go after the aging fighter and look to take him out.
