This is a big test for the knockout artist Dulorme because Abregu is a considerable step up from the types of fighters that he’s been facing during his four year pro career. The best that Dulorme has fought thus far are guys like Charlie Jose Navarro, Aris Ambriz and DeMarcus Corley. Dulorme didn’t look all that great against Corley and was hit hard on a number of occasions in winning a lopsided 10 round decision.

Abregu has got the power to KO Dulorme if he can stay in their long enough to land his big shots. Abregu has a shaky chin at times and a big puncher like Dulorme could get him out of there early. David Estrada gave Abregu problems, and Tim Bradley easily beat him two years ago by a 12 round unanimous decision.

IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (31-4, 13 KO’s) will be making his 4th defense of his International Boxing Federation title against #1 IBF Marvin Quintero (25-3, 21 KO’s) in what could be a competitive fight. Quintero, 25, can punch a little and he only has problems against big punchers in the past, losing to Daniel Attach and Tyrone Harris. Quintero has won his last five fights, albeit against mostly weak opposition.

Vazquez, 25, may be a problem for Quintero due to his excellent defensive skills. Vazquez is awkward and good at making his opponents miss with their best shots. He does well against sluggers like Quintero. For Quintero to have a better chance at winning this fight he’s going to need to lighten up on his punches and just look to connect because he’ll be hitting air all night long if he tries to KO Vazquez.

This fight is a very important one for Vazquez because if he can win it he’ll be defending his belt against Mercito Gesta. That’s a fight that Top Rank wants, and it’ll give Vazquez a nice payday.

#7 IBF light welterweight contender Mauricio Herrera (18-2, 7 KO’s) will be trying to get back to his winning ways against unbeaten #6 WBA, #6 WBO Karim Mayfield (16-0-1, 10 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout. Mayfield is the WBO NABO light welterweight champion, although that’s not all that important for this fight. Mayfield wants to keep winning so he can get a title shot, and he’s got a tough one in front of him with the Herrera with his nonstop punching attack. Mayfiled has beaten a couple of good fighters reently in defeating Ramond Serrano and Steve Forbes. However, none of those guys compare to Herrera, and this could be a really tough fight for Mayfield if he can’t get a knockout.

Herrera is coming off of a 10 round unanimous decision loss to Mike Alvarado from last April. It was a really tough fight for both guys, and it’s unclear whether Herrera will be still depleted from that fight. He took a lot of head shots against a bigger, and more powerful Alvarado for 10 rounds. He showed a lot of heart and if he had more power he likely would have won that fight.

Heavyweight Eric Fields (20-1, 15 KO’s) will be facing Kevin Franklin (4-4, 1 KO’s) in a scheduled 8 round bout. Field, 30, has won his last nine fighs since losing to Ola Afolabi by a 10th round TKO in April 2008. Field’s career has slowed down since that fight, and it’s unknown what Fields hopes to accomplish by moving up to heavyweight. He doesn’t have the size to compete against the best fighters at this weight, and would be much better off moving back down to cruiserweight.
