Image: Ricky Hatton boasts of 10,000 tickets already sold for his comeback fight on November 24th a the M.E.N ArenaBy Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) was bragging on his twitter page today about having sold 10,000 tickets already for his November 24th comeback fight at the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena), Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Hatton said on his twitter “Watch me go. 10,000 tickets sold already. Thank you again as always.”

The M.E.N Arena has a seating capacity of 21,000, so he still might not sell out. Usually boxing fans, the diehard ones, are the people that purchase tickets in his numbers are soon as they become available.

It was announced earlier today that the 33-year-old Hatton was making a comeback after three years out of action. That wasn’t all that surprising because I knew Hatton was going to comeback sooner or later. But was surprising was how little interest there was from boxing fans. Had this been years ago, Hatton’s British fans would be ecstatic over this news. Now it’s like ‘so what.’ Could it be that Hatton’s fans have forgotten him and moved on like an old lover that has lost interest? It sure does look like that. Too much time has elapsed between fights, and Hatton didn’t exactly look great in getting knocked cold the last time he fought.

I don’t really care one way or another about Hatton’s comeback. But if I was a fan of his, I wouldn’t be interested in seeing Hatton fight again because he was already exposed by the two best fighters in boxing in losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao by knockout. And Hatton might have been knocked out in his fight against Juan Lazcano in May of 2008 when Lazcano staggered Hatton and the referee allowed a badly hurt Hatton to get a time out to get his shoelaces tied.

I never seen that before ever, and I can’t imagine something like that flying out of the UK had Hatton stuck out his shoe to get a time out while staggering around the ring in the United States. I don’t think that would work. Oddly enough, that was the last time Hatton fought at the M.E.N Arena. Gosh, I hope we don’t get any weird stuff like that again on November 24th.
