Image: Marquez doesn't trust the judges, plans on knocking Pacquiao outBy Chris Williams: Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KO’s) feels that the only way he can make sure that he beats Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KO’s) on December 8th is if he knocks him when they fight at the MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Having seen all three of the past Pacquiao-Marquez fights I think Marquez is justified to feel like he may need a KO to beat the Filipino because I had Marquez winning all three fights but the judges have given Pacquiao a draw and two wins in those three fights. It’s got to be frustrating for Marquez because he honestly feels he was jobbed in those bouts and deserved to get the victory. But it’s boxing and I’m not surprised at anything anymore.

Marquez told RingTV “This fight I will try to knock out Manny Pacquiao. There is no way I can let this fight be a decision, because if I do everyone knows what will happen.”

I hate to say it but I agree with Marquez. I think he could dominate Pacquiao completely and still end up losing the fight. I had Marquez winning the last Pacquiao-Marquez fight by an 8 round to 4 score. And the fight before that, I had Marquez winning that one by two rounds.

Marquez is going to have to just focus on winning rounds, though, because he’s probably not going to be able to knock Pacquiao out unless he goes to the body. Pacquiao can take a head shot like no one I’ve ever seen before, and it’s a waste of time for Marquez to go head hunting thinking he’s going to KO the Filipino. That’s just not going to happen.

The thing that Marquez has going for him in this fight is that the judges may be willing to give him a decision if he earns this time because the last two fights between Pacquiao and Marquez have been so controversial.
