Image: Khan: A fight between me and Hatton would make a lot of moneyBy William Mackay: In the past Amir Khan said he’s never fight Ricky Hatton because he’s such a close friend with him, and that he would never step inside the ring with him because of that. However, Hatton has been talking about being interested in a Khan fight now that he’s making a comeback and he’s like to take him on after he’s picked up some wins.

Khan said to thesun.co.uk “It [Hatton-Khan fight] would make a lot of money. When you get the gloves on you forget your friendship.”

I think Khan needs to think hard and take the Hatton fight because it might as closest he’ll ever get in taking part in a mega fight. Khan’s dream of fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. has gone up in smoke after Khan was beaten by Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia. At this point Khan likely isn’t going to be able to rebuild his career in time to get a fight with Mayweather. He’s not going to get a Mayweather fight beating guys like lightweight Carlos Molina.

Khan will have to take on the top light welterweights and beat them, and I don’t think he can do it. Khan would have to beat Mike Alvarado, Brandon Rios, Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse. Right now, I think Khan would lose to all of them. This is why Khan needs to take the Hatton mega fight while it’s being offered to him, if it does get offered.

Hatton is going to be in danger of getting beaten by almost any halfway decent fighter that he takes on. He has too ring rusty, and his body has aged in the three years he’s been out of the sport. He’ll probably do alright if he fights guys like Vyacheslav Senchenko all the time, but that’s not what Hatton wants. He wants the Senchenko fight and will then go after one of the top names. If Hatton wants the Khan fight he’s going to have to take that fight real soon before Hatton – or Khan – gets beaten by someone else.

Khan’s chin would be in constant danger in a fight against Hatton, as would his body. I think it would it be tough for Khan if Hatton is able to pressure him.
