Charr’s management are currently protesting the stoppage loss, pointing out that the doctor treated Charr in Vitali’s red corner instead of Charr’s corner, according to sbs.com.au.

Charr said on his facebook account “I can’t sleep since Saturday night, my victory was stolen from me. We have to box again.”

Vitali has no interest in facing Charr again and it’s highly unlikely that his win will be overturned by the World Boxing Council or the German Boxing Federation from which it’s been appealed to.

Vitali said to sbs.com.au “What’s the point of doing that? [appealing]. Another round, or a maximum of two, and Charr would have been on the floor.”

Charr had been knocked down in the 2nd round, and took heavy punishment in both the 3rd and 4th rounds. It seems unlikely that Charr’s skin would have held together for another one or two rounds with Vitali landing so many head shots. It was terribly one-sided with Vitali hitting Charr over and over again with jabs, lefts and rights while Charr would slowly plod forward with his guard up trying to protect his head.

Vitali has nothing to gain from giving Charr a rematch because there’s no interest from the boxing public in seeing him face him again.

Charr was incredibly angry with the doctor’s stoppage of the fight. Charr moved around the ring, kicking at the side of the ring padding, shoving some of his team members away when they tried to get him to calm down. It was ugly to watch, and it was obviously disappointing for him to have the fight stopped prematurely. However, he was on his way to losing the fight and was probably lucky that the fight was stopped when it was. It saved Charr from having to take a lot of punishment and end up on the canvas. That would have been an embarrassing way to end the fight. At least this way Charr can still complain.
