By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten talent Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) is looking to win his second world title in different divisions when he takes on WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) on November 17th in a fight that is rumored to be taking place in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

DeMarco, 26, has won a lot of boxing fans over with his wins over Jorge Linares and John Molina recently. Before beating those guys, DeMarco was just considered to be a good fighter but nothing really special. He’d been totally dominated by Edwin Valero in a 9th round stoppage loss in 2010. DeMarco had also been beaten earlier in his career by Anthony Vazquez by a six round decision.

However, he seems to have improved a lot recently to the point where a lot of boxing fans are seeing him as possibly the best fighter in the lightweight division. Broner, 23, is going to have a lot to say about whether DeMarco is the best are not when they meet up on November 17th.

Broner is taking a dangerous move by fighting the perceived best in the division in his first fight at lightweight, but that’s how much self belief that Broner has about himself. He feels that he’s good enough to defeat DeMarco without even taking a warm-up fight at this weight to get a feel for the weight class. Size-wise, this won’t be such a big deal for Broner because he’s been fighting heavy when he was in the super featherweight division and would rehydrate up to past 140 for his fights.

The weight won’t be an issue for Broner. The only question is whether DeMarco’s power, height, reach, skills and southpaw stance will be a problem for Broner. The reach shouldn’t be a problem for Broner because his reach is the same as DeMarco, but he will be giving away three inches in height. However, Broner’s hand speed is so good that it might not matter about DeMarco’s height advantage.
