By Dan Henderson: At this moment in time the boxing world Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr and Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao split boxing’s opinion on who should be regarded as the P4P No1 but the question I want to propose is who will be the next P4P No1? We will look at the leading candidates.

We will start with the immediate names that will likely claim No1 and we start with, Nonito Donaire also known as ‘Flash’ is a switch hitter from the Philippines who is already a 4 weight world champion and likely to move up again will be the boxing face of the Philippines once Pacquiao has retired which in turn will mean he could potentially be good for PPV.

Andre Ward who is a former gold Olympic medalist and currently No1 in the super middleweight division following his victory against Carl Froch to win the Super Six boxing tournament. Ward will be facing fellow American Chad Dawson in what should be a good fight and a Ward victory should push him up the ladder to P4P glory.

Tim Bradley who recently defeated Manny Pacquiao albeit by one hell of a decision but that wasn’t Bradley’s fault. He is a two weight world champion but in my opinion he will struggle to take the P4P ranking as No1 because he is not as classy as some of the other fighters out there and he doesn’t get a lot of recognition in the boxing world but I think he is a good boxer and he will be tough to beat so he could prove the doubters wrong.
Before we go any further I must mention that I haven’t mentioned Sergio Martinez because I see him retiring around the same time as Pac and Mayweather but I do feel he is a great fighter who had been avoided and lost out on the chance to be a big PPV fighter which in turn has cost him financially. Now we go on to the next generation of future stars and there is a few who have great potential.

Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is a great prospect who at the age of 22 has already fought 41 times picking up the WBC light middleweight title along the way. He has been criticized because the standard of his opponents but I’m sure that will pick up in due course well once the Lopez mismatch is done with.

Adrien Broner also known as the new Mayweather is starting to show the world that he wants to be up there with the best and the kid has a lot of potential and confidence to match and he will be one to look out for.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr the son on of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez who is arguably the greatest Mexican fighter of all time is now stepping up the class by facing Sergio Martinez and a victory in that fight will put him ahead of the others coming up. There is talk of a potential fight with fellow Mexican Saul Alvarez but that will be a difficult fight to put together because of who they are promoted by.

Now I know I’ve missed out names but the are in my opinion the strongest candidates. What do you think?
