Wach slightly taller than Wladimir, but so slow

By Jason Kim: 6’6″ IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 51 KO’s) will be facing an opponent bigger them himself for the first time in his career when he faces 6’7 1/2″ Poland’s Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) in November.

Although the fight still isn’t signed as of yet, it’s looking pretty solid that Wladimir will face the unproven 32-year-old Wach instead of a more proven heavyweight contender.

Wach is the bigger guy but his reach is only one inch longer than Wladimir, and he’s so incredibly slow in comparison to the Ukrainian. The lack of speed is almost guaranteed to be Wach’s undoing because it’s easy to see his punches coming and he lacks solid defensive skills. Wach has one weapon in his arsenal and that’s his powerful right hand. However, for him to land that shot against Wladimir he’ll need speed, and that he doesn’t have.

Wach looked terrible in his last two fights against Jason Gavern and Tye Fields. He did get a pair of 6th round TKO wins in the two fights, but he was hit often and his hand speed or lack thereof looked worse than ever.

Wladimir can be hurt if he gets hit with a solid shot. However, with Wach unable to throw anything with any speed on it he’ll be lucky if he can land anything before Wladimir connects with one of his own big shots and knocks Wach out.

Wach has got this big lantern jaw that Wladimir will no doubt he targeting to get a KO. Without any defense to speak of, Wach will be at the mercy of every shot that Wladimir throws in this fight.
