Image: Ivan Dychko will give Anthony Joshua problems on Friday in their Olympic semi-finals matchBy Scott Gilfoid: Britain’s Anthony Joshua is going to have huge problems on his hands this Friday in his Olympic super heavyweight semi-finals bout against Kazakhstan’s Ivan Dychko in London. Dychko, who looks and fights a lot like WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, hasn’t just been beating his opposition, he’s been completely dominating in his Olympic competition.

In his two previous bouts in this years 2012 Olympic competition, Dychko has beaten Germany’s Erik Pfeifer by the score of 14-4, and in Dychko’s last fight, he out-pointed Canada’s Simon Kean by the scores of 20-6. Dychko is dominating everyone and looking a heck of a lot like Vitali Klitschko with his fighting style.

I don’t want to count Joshua out, but I almost have to because he’s looked terrible in his two wins over Cuba’s Erislandy Savon [17-16] and China’s Zheila Zhang [15-11]. I had Joshua losing both of those fights, and it’s incredibly strange that he’s still in the Olympic competition after those two poor performances.

Dychko’s footwork is so good and so much better than Joshua’s. Dychko moves around the ring with a lot of speed and grace. Dychko has an excellent left hook that he likes to throw and he looks a lot like Vitali when he throws it. And like Vitali, who also comes from Kazakhstan, Dychko is good at leaning away from shots thrown at him. He slips jabs and power shots every effectively. Dychko showed a nice jab and uppercut against Kean. It was like I was watching Vitali fight.

This should be a fairly easy win for Dychko because he’s faster and he gets his shots off in a much more fluid manner than Joshua. Everything is effortless with Dychko. The man was born to punch, and he doesn’t need all these extra muscles that Joshua carries around in order to light up an opponent.

Dychko had Kean hurt in the first round from a nice right hand and had the referee not stopped the action to give Kean a standing eight count, I think Dychko would have knocked him out.

Dychko’s skill level is superior to Joshua in my estimation and the way he’s been completely dominating his opposition suggests that he should easily beat Joshua on Friday unless we get another controversial decision for Joshua like the last two.
