The powerful Stevenson will be turning 35 next month and he clearly can’t afford any more slip ups like the one he experienced recently when he was stopped in the 2nd round by journeyman Darnell Boone in April 2010. Stevenson’s loss to Boone showed that if he’s going to come out slugging each time he fights, he’s going to suffer losses from time to time, because some of the guys he’s facing can punch too. That’s definitely the case for his bout against the 27-year-old George, who can really bang if he’s got someone that is standing in front of him.

Stevenson likely won’t alter his fighting style despite facing the heavy-handed George. If he’s going to come out slugging then Stevenson is going to have to hope that he can get George out of there as fast as possible because he can’t leave George in the game for long if he’s going to be standing directly in front of him. That’s too dangerous.

George can be beaten as we saw in his loss to Edwin Rodriguez last March in a 10 round decision loss but it mostly takes someone that can box him and stay away to get a win. George’s power makes him more than a match against Stevenson if he elects to trade with him instead of running. All it takes is one big shot from George to hurt Stevenson and get him out of there.

George lost his last fight and that should help Stevenson because George’s confidence may be at a low point right now. However, George could be a fighter that has his back against the wall and may fight incredibly hard to make sure that he doesn’t get beaten again. That makes George really dangerous for Stevenson.
