McKenna (McJack): Fresh off his victory over former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s), RING, WBO, IBF and WBA belt holder Vladimi Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s) had a serious message for the “Hayemaker” as he toured London.

On Sky Sports News Vladimir questioned whether David Haye has the heart or the desire for a rematch with him.

Yes “Dr. Steelhammer” will give Haye a chance to redeem himself after his pitiful performance on July 2, by giving him a rematch.

But before any rematch Haye must prove that he is up for the battle, preferably by making an impression in the United States.

Klitschko was quoted as saying “As a therapist I promised reality rehab for David on July 2 to make him a better person inside and outside the ring. I believe certain things show in the character of David Haye and, from what I see I don’t believe he wants this rematch. Straight after a fight, fighters usually scream ‘give me a rematch.’ But David never said a word.”

“At the press conference, journalists were all asking me if I would give him a rematch. So I passed it on to David who was like ‘err, hmm, well maybe…….yeah sure, why not?’

“But I don’t see the desire for David to get this rematch. I believe Richard Schaefer, his promoter, is right. He needs to establish himself in the USA and show he has the will.”

Vladmir’s older brother Vitali weighed in on the subject of David Haye briefly, “Before my next fight I don’t want to talk about Haye,” he said. “But maybe after that, if he is ready I will give him a chance. I was happy that Vladimir beat Haye, but unhappy he did not send him to the floor. I can do that in the future.”

Vitali as Vladimir pointed out in the lead up to the Haye fight was a born fighter. He has that side to him which makes his fights more physical and exciting for fans to watch. He also has a chin which is beyond question. In his forty four fights Vitali has never been down. Since he returned to the ring in the fall of 2008 to destroy Sam Peter, he has not been behind in a fight and has barely lost a round in his past seven fights.

Vladimir, while the more athletic of the brothers and clearly the more gifted boxer has not resonated with boxing fans to the extent that Vitali has.

It is doubtful that David Haye will ever take up the challenge that Vitali has laid down before him.
