Haye wants a fight against Vitali, and is hoping he decides to continue fighting rather than retiring to pursue a parliamentary seat in the Ukrainian congressional elections in October.

Haye wants the Vitali bout badly because he sees something in Vitali’s slow lumbering style that makes him believe that he can beat the 41-year-old fighter. It’s hard not to miss the weakness that Haye has spotted in the aging Vitali’s game. Vitali is really starting to slow down, and his stamina, never good to begin with, seems to have gotten worse as of late. Vitali recently struggled badly against Dereck Chisora earlier this year in February, beating him by a 12 round decision but looking badly tired against a fighter that really didn’t throw a lot of punches.

Chisora in turn was destroyed by Haye last month in a 5th round TKO victory in London. Haye tore through Chisora, hurting him with power shots and never really letting him get into the fight. It was completely one-sided from start to finish. Haye’s speed and boxing ability made it really easy for him to pick Chisora apart. Chisora’s brawling style worked against him because Haye was able to capitalize on all the openings that Chisora left him when attacking.

Unless Haye hears something immediately from Vitali after he beats Charr on September 8th, Haye should look to pick off one of the other names in the division like IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko or Alexander Povetkin. Either of them would be perfect.
