Image: Fury: Me and David Price are the only guys that stand a chance against the KlitschkosBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) sees himself and fellow Brit David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s) as the only two fighters in the heavyweight division that stand a chance against the Klitschko brothers.

Speaking with RingTV, Fury said “The only guys that stand a chance against Wladimir or Vitali are me and David Price. That’s it.”

I hate to be the one who drizzles all over Fury’s grand vision but neither he nor Price would stand a chance against either of the Klitschkos. He’s dreaming to the extreme. Heck, I don’t see either Fury or Price making it past Kubrat Pulev, let alone one of the Klitschkos. At the contender level, Pulev would likely do a number on both Price and Fury. But if we’re prospects here, unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (24-0, 24 KO’s) would be too much for Fury and Price.

I can’t see either Price or Fury making it past the 2nd round with a big puncher like Wilder. You know, it’s interesting that Fury doesn’t even mention Wilder’s name despite the fact that he’s been calling him out. I wonder at which point Fury will finally make a comment on Wilder? When Wilder is at 30-0 with 30 knockouts or maybe 40-0 with 40 KOs.

At some point Fury is going to have to acknowledge Wilder, because he’s the future of the heavyweight division. Wilder is a greatly improved version of the Klitschkos. If the Klitschkos were android robots, Wilder would be the next level up, the more advanced version and ready to seek and destroy. That’s how good Wilder is.

Let’s be real here. Fury is kidding himself if he thinks he can match up with the Klitschko brothers. That’s Fury’s pipe dream. That’s just not happening no matter how old they get. They’ll always have that power, and Fury will never be able to deal with.

Fury could end up fighting former WBA World heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev in November, at least that’s what the word is. I don’t see that fight happening. If Fury is going to fight anyone, he’ll likely fight 43-year-old James Toney instead. Chagaev, 33, is still too dangerous for Fury, because all it will take is one big shot from the southpaw Chagaev and he could have Fury flopping around on the canvas. Chagaev has a nice left hand and Fury is easy to hit.
