Image: Deontay Wilder nowhere near ready to fight top guysBy Steven Ocallaghan: With the upcoming heavyweight title fights coming up which the Klitchko brothers will win, the new, younger heavyweights are vying for position. In Britain we have David Haye , David Price, Tyson Fury and Derrick Chisora.

We also have top European Robert Helenius coming back from injury. Also Mike Perez , the big punching South American fighting out of Ireland.

In USA we have Seth Mitchell, Chris Areola, Kevin Johnson, Tor Hamer and even Malik Scott. Scott is largely overlooked , even though he has a 34 – 0 record. Scott is not a huge puncher though but as his record states he gets the job .

Odlanier Solis is also still there. Unfortunate in his title fight but back to fitness now.

I have left out “prospect” Deontay Wilder from my list because I don’t think the quality of fighter he has fought merits to add him. Who has he beat? Household names? No. He has been fighting guys that the above mentioned guys would have fought in their first 5 fights. But Wilder still seams happy at that level.

Yes, we have heard him call out some high ranked guys, but does he deserve the chance to jump the queue, again no. Why should he be allowed to step over honest decent fighters who have stepped up and not just padded their record with faded, old, worn out guys with no punch resistance left. He doesn’t deserve it. Frankly he is not good enough.

Most of the names above have been on the canvas, but to a far higher level of opponent to the obese Dustin Nicholls and the very average Sconiers, even though average is a compliment.

Wilder doesn’t deserve to be on the list because he’s not earned it. When he is fighting and beating top 50 guys regularly then he might get a mention, but up until then, don’t believe the hype.
