Arreola, #1 WBC, #5 WBO, #8 WBA, #10 IBF, has won 7 consecutive fights since getting beaten by Tomasz Adamek by a 12 round decision in April of 2010.

Arreola has done well since that fight, stopping five of the seven badly overmatched opponents that the 31-year-old Arreola has fought during that time frame.

Arreola is in a position where he’ll likely be fighting for another world title in the near future as long as he keeps winning. However, he needs to make sure that he takes advantage of his title shot this time by making sure he crowds his opponent to get the win no matter what. Arreola did a poor job of pressuring Vitali in their fight in September 9th and it led to Arreola getting pummeled and then stopped in the 10th round.

Arreola has good power, but he’s had problems with weight gain for the past few years and that’s limited his effectiveness inside the ring. Arreola has reportedly taken off a considerable amount of weight recently and he’s fought a lot better, albeit against less than dangerous opposition.

Arreola could soon get replaced as the top heavyweight contender in the division by younger and larger heavyweights like Tyson Fury, David Price, Kubrat Pulev and Deontay wilder. Arreola doesn’t have their size or boxing skills. Those guys can all do what Arreola can do but are better because of their size and ability to control the ring.
