Broner vs. Guerrero = A good stay busy fight for Adrien

Image: Broner vs. Guerrero = A good stay busy fight for AdrienBy Scott Gilfoid: Adrien Broner and WBC welterweight interim champion Robert Guerrero had words on twitter earlier Tuesday and it’s painfully obvious that they don’t like one another. They really need to consider fighting because neither guy has any hopes of finding a fight in their own respective divisions.

Guerrero says he wants Floyd Mayweather Jr, but he’s not going to get that fight or any other big fight. If he’s really lucky, Guerrero will face a halfway decent fighter like Victor Ortiz and get a nice little payday en route to losing his interim WBC title. Guerrero doesn’t have the power to beat anyone good at welterweight, which is why he should fight Broner.

Broner looked a lot better than Guerrero against a common opponent Vicente Escobedo, stopping him in the 5th round last month. Guerrero needed 10 rounds to beat a younger Escobedo by a 10 round decision in 2010. Broner simply overpowered Escobedo and made it look easy. Guerrero didn’t have the power to take Escobedo out, and had to work hard to get the decision.

Guerrero could end up losing out big time if he takes the Broner fight and ends up getting exposed badly. Broner is like Floyd Mayweather Jr-lite, and while he’s missing some of the major ingredients that make Mayweather as great as he is, Broner has got enough of those Mayweather qualities to make Guerrero look silly. Broner also has the power to hurt Guerrero, and I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Broner were able to knock him out. I think Broner would give Guerrero a bad beating if couldn’t knock him out. The differences between the two of them in the skills department is pretty wide. Broner is the much more talented fighter.

Guerrero seems to have gotten cocky from his win over Selcuk Aydin recently, and he feels as if he’s deserving of a fight against Mayweather. Guerrero is dreaming. That fight isn’t going to happen in this lifetime. Since Guerrero isn’t going to get the fight against the real Mayweather, he needs to put all his efforts into getting the Mayweather copy by facing Broner. He’ll get just as bad a beating as he would against Mayweather, but at least he can stop yapping about wanting a fight.
