Image: AMIR KHAN will be back!By Mohammad Malik: I must say that we’ve not seen the last of Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s). I believe the best of Amir Khan is yet to be seen. His KO loss to WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia has prompted many to write him off, and even go as far as to suggest retirement.

If you are one of those who thinks that he should retire, then you are seriously mistaken. Khan is only 25 years old and still has his best years ahead of him. There are obvious questions over his chin, but I think some of that criticism is unjust. People are quick to bring up his KO loss to Breidis Prescott and the 10th round from the Marcos Maidana fight.

Amir was too raw when he faced Prescott and needed couple more fights before facing someone like Prescott. I think Freddie Roach did a great job of polishing his skills, and difference was there to see in his fight with Maidana. He was dominating the whole fight until the 10th round. And yes, Maidana did catch him with a big right punch, but he still stood tall and took all of Maidana’s best shots.

Let’s not forget that Maidana is one of the hardest punchers in his division, and has one of the highest KO wins percentage. I don’t know how many would’ve survived that round? But Amir Khan did! We should recall Maidana’s fight with Victor Ortiz, when Ortiz just gave up. Ortiz couldn’t even recover from Floyd Mayweather’s punches, who is not necessarily known for his power. Yes, his guards were down, but his legs couldn’t hold up when he tried getting back up. But no one seems to question his chin?

Lamont Peterson is not a big puncher but still has decent power. He successfully landed his best shots on Khan but couldn’t even come close to dropping him. Khan’s loss to Garcia is obviously a set back to his career. But that punch did not land on his chin. I believe that punch on the neck would‘ve put most of the fighters down. Khan got up and fought like a warrior, and that says a lot. Khan’s mistake was to not fight to his strengths. His speed and skills are unmatched. He obviously needs to work on his defense. But I don’t think his chin is that big of an issue.

Amir Khan will be back! I believe that we will not see him make the same mistake in the future. He will fight to his strengths. I think he needs a coach who can put his foot down and force him to fight with a plan, whether it’s Freddie or Steward. But we have not seen the last of Amir Kahn. He will be the champion again.
