Image: Wladimir: The chances are there for a Haye-Klitschko fightBy Sean McDaniel: IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko thinks it’s possible that he or his brother WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko could wind up facing former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye in the near future if things work out with negotiations as well as Vitali winning his next fight against Manuel Charr in September.

Wladimir told Sky Sports News “I think the chances are there [for a Haye-Klitschko fight]…I think that David is a better person, and I hope that he is more reliable than he used to be. We’ll see the next step. The next step is for Vitali to fight. It’s very important for hi to win the fight [against Charr] and then we’ll continue to talk.”

If Vitali struggles against Charr and looks as bad as he did in his 12 round decision win over Dereck Chisora last February, I think it’s possible that Vitali will choose to retire rather than taking the Haye fight. He’ll have a good idea of how bad he’d look against a quicker, stronger and more mobile Haye and probably won’t take the fight. If Vitali can’t even beat a limited fighter like Charr without problems then he’d have no chance at beating Haye.

Wladimir has really run out of opponents that boxing fans care about. Tyson Fury doesn’t want to fight him, and there’s really no one else for Wladimir to fight besides Haye. Guys like Chris Arreola are a waste of time because he’s already been exposed and has been hesitant to fight quality opposition since losing to Vitali in 2009.
