Image: Will a win over Charr satisfy Vitali?By John F. McKenna (McJack): When World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO’s) enters the ring on September 8 to fight lightly regarded Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KO’s) will it be the type of fight that he would want to end his career on? The fight will take place in Moscow where both of the Klitschko brothers are quite popular.

It is no secret that “Dr. Ironfist” has long sought a fight with former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s). As a matter of fact Vitali insists that Haye was given the contract to fight him in September and he opted out of that fight to take rfron Derek Chisora (15-4, 9 KO’s) who he KO’d in five rounds on Saturday night. So the position of Klitschko and his manager Bernd Boente is that Haye had his chance to fight Vitali and blew it.

Vitali will take on Charr, who is known in Germany and Eastern Europe but, is not even on the radar in the rest of the world. Obviously Klitschko and Boente are well aware of this but so far have not budged from their position that the fight with Charr may be Vitali’s last.

So the question boxing insiders are asking is will a victory over the little known Manuel Charr satisfy the competitive instincts of Vitali to face the best opposition available?

It is well known that “Dr. Ironfist” will be going on the campaign trail to enter into the rough and tumble world of politics after his fight with Charr. Vitlal is of the opinion that once he enters politics he cannot serve two masters and must devote all his time to be the mayor of Kiev if he is elected in October.

His manager Bernd Boente however did not entirely slam the door on the possibility of “Dr. Ironfist” having a farewell fight. British promoter Frank Warren who promoted the Haye – Chisora fight is of the opinion that a Klitschko – Haye fight could be made. Haye’s stock is definitely on the upswing after his impressive showing against Chisora. Many people were of the opinion that “The Hayemaker” would win the fight against “Del-Boy” but were surprised at the ease with which he pulled it off.

It’s only natural that Haye’s fans are now back on his bandwagon and calling for a Haye – Klitscko fight. They point out the difficulty Vitali had defeating Chisora, never mind that Klitschko was unable to use his left arm. There is little doubt that such a fight would be huge. There is one thing boxing fans can always count on and that is David Haye generates a great deal of excitement whenever he fights.
