Image: Tyson Fury: Like Marciano, I want to finish with an '0' on my recordBy Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury (18-0, 13 KO’s) is dreaming of retiring with a perfect record like former heavyweight champion of the world the great Rocky Marrciano (49-0, 43 KO’s), but as you can see Fury is quite a ways away from that mark.

Fury said to thesun.co.uk “Like Rocky [Marciano], I want to finish with that 0 on my record.”

I get a kick out of this. Fury hasn’t faced a soul his entire career with the exception of a fat Dereck Chisora, and here we have Fury aspiring to finish his career with an unbeaten record like Marciano. That’s funny and sad at the same time. That’s not going to happen unless Fury retires real soon OR he avoids the Klitschko brothers, Deontay Wilder, Denis Boytsov, David Haye, Dereck Chisora, Alexander Dimitrenko, Kubrato Pulev, Chris Arreola, Alexander Povetkin, Seth Mitchell, Manuel Charr, Bermane Stiverne, Odlanier Solis, Tomasz Adamek, Alexander Ustinov, Ruslan Chagaev, Mariusz Wach, Kevin Johnson, Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson and Magomed Abdusalamov. I rate all of those guys well above Fury.

Fury needs to focus in trying to get past Maddalone on Saturday because this guy is in Fury’s league and I can see him beating the Brit, and it wouldn’t be an upset. Those two guys are about the same in talent.

If Fury can beat Maddalone on Saturday, I’d like to see him finally face someone good. I know it won’t happen, but I’d like to think that his promoter has enough confidence in his ability to at least put him in with a bottom dweller to see if Fury can beat one of those guys. Abdusalamov, #13 WBA, is ranked lower than Fury. Why doesn’t Fury’s promoter put him in with this guy to see what would happen?

I think Fury shouldn’t worry his head about finishing his career with an unbeaten record because it’s obviously not going to happen unless he avoids all of the aforementioned fighters from my list.
