Aydin sees this fight as putting him on the boxing map after he shocks fans and writers alike by pulling off an upset by beating the 29-year-old Guerrero.

Aydin said this to fightnews.com “I’m certainly no underdog. And that I win on Saturday, shouldn’t surprise anyone. After Saturday, everyone will know who Selcuk Aydin is.”

Guerrero and Aydin will be fighting for the interim WBC welterweight title and the winner of the fight has an outside chance of getting a fight against WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Guerrero wants that fight bad enough to be moving up in weight all the way from lightweight to welterweight.

Guerrero started out at featherweight and has kept moving up in weight, winning titles at flyweight and super flyweight. His 5’8″ size and long 70″ reach has really helped him a lot against shorter opponents. On Saturday night, Guerrero will have only a one inch height advantage over Aydin, but he will have a big 5 inch reach advantage. That might help him if Aydin is able to stalk Guerrero and get inside his long reach like Orlando Salido did in beating him years ago in November 2006.

That loss was overturned when Salido tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. But Salido did create a blue print in how to beat Guerrero by crowding him and keep the pressure on the entire fight.

Guerrero can’t afford to lose this fight if he wants to keep alive his dream of a Mayweather fight, however little chance there is that it can happen.
