Peter has lost his last two fights against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and Robert Helenius, and hasn’t fought since April of last year. Peter, at one time considered one of the best fighters in the heavyweight division, has only fought three times in the past two years. Peter’s career has plummeted after a high point in March of 2008 when he defeated WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev by a 6th round TKO.

Peter followed up that fight with a loss to Vitali Klitschko and then Eddie Chambers. The defeat at the hands of Chambers seemed like a situation where Peter didn’t take the fight as seriously as he should have, because he came into the fight weighing 265 pounds and was much too heavy to fight effectively. Even with all the extra weight that Peter was carrying around for that fight, he still came close to winning it.

Peter won four straight fights after that and looked really good going into his fight against Wladimir in September 2010. However, Wladimir did a great job of shutting Peter down by jabbing and clinching him, and pounded him into submission in the 10th round. In Peter’s fight with Helenius, Peter looked like a shadow of his once powerful self, because he just didn’t appear to have a lot of self confidence for that fight. It was a bad match-up for Peter to begin with coming off of a disappointing loss to Wladimir. Usually you want to build up a fighter’s confidence after they lose a fight and not put him in with a guy that’s as big as Wladimir with a lot of power.

Peter should easily beat Sconiers without any problems. Sconiers has lost four out of his last five bouts with all four defeats coming by knockout.

Peter needs to be matched against soft opposition until he’s showing signs of fighting with more confidence.
