Image: Objective about Floyd’s Jail TimeBy Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: I’m not a perfect man or writer. In fact, I’m not perfect at all. However, I do strive for excellence and I make mistakes along the way. Floyd Mayweather Jr’s jail sentence has seemingly brought joy to many of those that hate him. Some of the comments I’ve read are mind blowing. But I’m choosing to look at it from a different point of view.

First, Nobody but God, Floyd and Ms. Jose Harris knows what went on that day. Am I defending what he did? Honestly, I can’t defend nor go against him because I don’t know the whole story. If I was there, then I can make a better assessment.

But what I find most interesting about this whole ordeal is that people are rejoicing because some are saying “he got what he deserved”. Yes, there should be punishment for things that a person does wrong. But most are taking that from the way he flaunts his cash, talks about his house, and talks about his opponents, calls himself the best, and is undefeated. The crime doesn’t seem to matter (to some extent). They are just happy he’s behind bars. People are quick to pass judgment on Floyd without looking at the whole picture. Most of us have parents, mentors to tell us “don’t do this or that”. Perhaps Floyd didn’t have those things so a lot probably went unchecked in his life. This is not the open door to trash him, but a time to help. Positive reinforcement and encouragement is what he needs. People can send letters and say “Hey, Floyd, I know this guy he can help” or hey, Floyd, I know this pastor and this church that can help” or whatever. Now if he doesn’t receive it, then one can say “Hey I tried”.

And maybe the rumors of him not eating the county food are true and maybe it’s not. But whatever the case maybe, he’s still being talked about. I will be praying for him that things will get better for him. Again, I can’t speak on or against him because I wasn’t there.
