By Mark Havey: Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum have a relationship which is complexity personified. A lot of people are left perplexed by certain decisions. Pacquiao sticks by the man who has been promoting since Muhammad Ali, Pacquiao praises him and seems willing to do what Arum says. But then, he is under contract. Many people, myself included, have always been mystified as to why Pacquiao sticks with Arum. Manny Pacquiao is a megastar who earns millions for his promoter.

There has been a lot of talk as to what the plan is from here. I have seen reports that Arum and Pacquiao are to meet next month to discuss opponents. But when asked about his next fight, Philstar.com quoted the Filipino icon as saying “Wala pa. Wala pa” (Nothing yet). Pacquiao was then asked if the November 10th date was true, he replied “Wala pa”

Philstar.com also stated that Bob Arum said this after their last meeting “Manny wants Mayweather. Obviously, the fight he wants is Mayweather. That’s the guy he wants to fight,”.

Of course this is the fight that the world wants to see but it has been fraught with difficulties and objections on both parts. One minute it is drug testing issues, then date issues, now purse problems. Personally I think both boxers owe it to the fans, who spent alot of cash supporting them, to come to some concession. It may sound crazy, certainly wishful thinking, but I still believe this fight will be made. The winner will be a hero and the loser will be significantly richer, meaning there is no loser.
