Image: Khan KO'D againBy Adam Fulker: On Saturday July 14, Amir Khan looked on his way to getting back to winning ways against Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia at the Mandalay bay, Las Vegas. For the first two rounds Khan kept Garcia on the end of his lighting fast jab, while firing in right hands and fighting in no more than twos and threes.

Garcia looked wild and predictable for the opening two sessions, but started to find his way in the third as Khan started to stand in front of Garcia giving him a chance to land his money shot, the left hook. With 30 seconds left of round 3, Khan looked to land a right uppercut, Garcia ducked down and launched a thunderous left hook which landed behind the ear of Khan and sent him crashing to canvas. I’m a big fan of Khan but the fight could of been stopped there and then as Khan rose he was on unstable legs and looked in the same state when Breidis Prescott bombed him out in a round.

As referee Kenny Bayless let the fight continue Garcia jumped on Khan and almost put him down again on the bell, Khan was all over the place and staggered back to his corner looking worse for wear! Khan came out for round 4 and soon sent crashing down again as Garcia landed two more hard right hands. Khan showed his heart by trying to fight back, but at this point he should of been spoiling and trying to get some strength back in his legs. Khan landed some shots on Garcia catching him with a nice left hand, and also finding the target with sharp fast uppercut. I thought Khan was going to make it back to Freddie Roach in his corner and have another minute to recoup. Khan’s dreams were shattered when Garcia landed another left hook on the top of Khans head, Khan fell back again, Garcia catching him with a glancing right hand on the way down. Khan beat the count but Bayless waved the fight off. Garcia has now propelled himself into the big time capturing the WBA super world light welterweight title and the Ring magazine title, to add to his WBC belt.

This was a huge upset and a huge setback for Khan, who can now forget about a clash with P4P king Floyd Mayweather. Khan needs to regroup, have some time off, and stick to what hes good at, boxing, not fighting!
