Image: Khan: I want to Knock Garcia out and prove a pointBy William Mackay: Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO’s) doesn’t like the fact that WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (23-0, 14 KO’s) and his father Angel Garcia have both been trash talking him for weeks now. Recently, Angel Garcia took it to another level when he said he’d never seen a fighter from Pakistan that can fight. Khan was actually born in the UK, not in Pakistan.

Khan wants to punish Danny Garcia when they meet up this Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada to pay him and his father back for their comments.

Khan said to RingTV “I know he [Angel Garcia] is going to be sweating bullets sitting in the corner with his son getting beat up, taking shots time after time…His son is going to have to suffer for what he said. All the things he said is making me work harder, train harder and hate Garcia even more. So when I do go in the fight, I’m going to be so focused and so ready for war. I want to knock the kid out to prove a point.”

Anytime a fighter goes out looking to KO another fighter it makes them vulnerable, because they get taken away from their natural game. Khan could be making a big mistake if he goes out there looking for a knockout against Garcia on Saturday night because it isn’t as if Khan has got the beat chin in the world. With his glass chin it only takes one hard shot and he’s done for the fight.

If I’m Khan’s trainer, I’d be telling to do what he normally does – run – and avoid mixing it up with Garcia at all costs. We saw what happened to Khan when he tried to go to war with Breidis Prescott in 2008. Khan got knocked out in one round.

We saw what happened to Khan when he tried to fight toe-to-toe with Lamont Peterson last December in the 4th round. Peterson battered Khan and sent him scurrying away. Garcia is like an improved version of Peterson. Khan can’t out-slug Garcia, and he’ll be stupid if he attempts to do that. Garcia is too powerful, and has way too many weapons. He’s a big fighter 5’9″ with a lot of ways to beat Khan. It would be a big mistake if Khan gets away from his usual style of fighting and tries to take Garcia out of there.
