Image: Kell Brook ranked #3 at 147 in Ring ratingsBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) is currently ranked #3 in the Ring rankings for the welterweight division behind #1 Manny Pacquiao and #2 Floyd Mayweather Jr. If don’t know if the people who put together the Ring’s rankings happened to have seen Brook’s questionable 12 round majority decision victory over Carson Jones last weekend, but if they did they should be drastically revising Brook’s rankings by sliding him down 17 places to the number 20 spot.

Brook was totally thrashed by Jones in the last half of their fight, and was completely out on his feet in the 12th. I still think Jones would have knocked Brook out had the referee not stepped in and gave Jones a lengthy warning that chewed up valuable time while he had Brook out on his feet in the last 15 seconds. I couldn’t believe how much time the referee used up in giving that warning. You take that warning away and I feel that Jones would have knocked Brook out no problem.

I don’t see how Brook can be ranking anywhere near the 5 spot or even in the top 15 for that matter. Like I said, I see Brook as a nice bottom dweller at 20 or below that. I also don’t understand how Brook be ranked above unbeaten Tim Bradley, who just beat Manny Pacquiao. Bradley fought a heck of a lot better against Pacquiao than Brook did against Jones.

I don’t have much respect for any of the Ring’s rankings. They seem totally bizarre to me. Here’s my rankings for the welterweight

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Tim Bradley
4. Randall Bailey
5. Andre Berto
6. Paulie Malignaggi
7. Selcuk Aydin
8. Thomas Dulorme
9. Victor Ortiz
10. Josesito Lopez
11. Devon Alexander
12. Mike Jones
