This is another one of Fury’s easy opponents for him to try and position himself as the mandatory for the WBC title.

Fury is taking an unusual approach to getting a title shot by skipping the usual European route and instead focusing on weaker opposition to get a shot against one of the world champions.

Fury should be facing the likes of Kubrat Pulev or Alexander Dimitrenko at the European level to test whether he’s got what it takes to fight for a world title, but Fury has skipped that approach. Instead, Fury is facing guys like 41-year-old Martin Rogan, 38-year-old Maddalone, 34-year-old Nevan Pajkic, and 33-year-old Nicolai Firtha. It’s hard to imagine Fury getting anything out of all these fights other than it keeping him as a contender and not letting him get exposed like he possibly would if he faced a better opponent like Pulev.

Maddalone has enough power to KO Fury this Saturday night, but the question is whether Maddalone an land his shots enough to get a win. He might need a knockout to win anyway because this is a home fight for Fury, and the they’re probably not going to give it to Maddalone without him really impressing.

Maddalone will need to drive right through the teeth of Fury’s offense on Saturday if he wants to win the fight. He can’t do it by sticking around hoping to win a decision or hoping to take Fury into the deep waters and drown him late in the fight.
