Fury: I think I’m ready for the title; I did a better job against Chisora than Vitali

Image: Fury: I think I'm ready for the title; I did a better job against Chisora than VitaliBy Scott Gilfoid: Some fighters don’t know how limited they are until it hits them over the head and they get flattened. Unbeaten Tyson Fury (18-0, 13 KO’s) seems like he’s just begging to get knocked out. He’s got a fight coming up on Saturday night against Vinny Maddalone (35-7, 26 KO’s), and it would seem like a winnable one for the 6’9″ Fury, but we’ll have to see about that. I have my doubts after seeing how emaciated Fury is after a long training camp and a healthy, perhaps too lean of a diet.

Fury told the mirror.co.uk “I’m starting to feel like I’m ready for the title and I know that I will get my chance…I did a better job on Dereck Chisora than Vitali Klitschko did.

Fury doesn’t seem to have his feet on the ground. There’s a couple of reasons why Fury did a better job against Chisora than Vitali: Reason number 1 – Chisora came into the Fury fight a fat blob, weighing 260 pounds, looking like he’d trained on twinkies and M & Ms. He looked horrible and ran out of gas after only three rounds. Against Vitali, Chisora was in excellent shape in the 240 range and able to fight hard for 12 rounds.

Reason number 2 – Vitali tore up his left shoulder in the 2nd round, and was forced to fight the entire fight with only his right hand. Vitali isn’t a huge puncher, so he wasn’t able to bang Chisora out like perhaps his brother IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko likely would have done had he been fighting with just his right hand.

Reason number 3 – Vitali 40-years-old and not able to move around the ring like he used to. Against a strong puncher like Chisora, Vitali was forced to do more moving than he’d had in years, and it eventually wore him down.

For all his bold talk, Fury still doesn’t seem like he’s in a hurry to fight Vitali or Wladimir. It looks like he’s more interested in waiting them out so he can avoid getting knocked out. What good is it if you wait them out? All it’s going to do is allow talents like Seth Mitchell and Deontay Wilder to mature more and come in take over the division. Fury will have missed his big chance once those fighters take over.
