Speaking with Radio 5 Live’s Sportsweek as quoted by sportsmole.co.uk,Froch said “I would retire if that happened to me…Why? Because I am not in the sport to get beaten, knocked out, or outclassed…If I had lost to Lucian Bute I would probably have retired because I am in this game to be at the very top and stay a the top.”

Yes, it’s sad that Khan is getting knocked beaten over and over again nowadays. He’s getting further and further from his world title dreams. Before his loss to his 4th round TKO loss to Danny Garcia last Saturday night, Khan was beaten by Lamont Peterson last December.

Khan and Golden Boy Promotions were able to take a lot of the sting out of that defeat by initially pointing fingers at the referee, the judges, the scorecards and the mystery man that sat at the judges table with one of the judges during the fight. Later the loss was further explained away when Peterson tested positive for synthetic testosterone. However, Khan still looked completely awful in the Peterson fight, and last nights’ loss is something that you can’t explain away at all other saying that Khan simply fought a dumb fight by trying to slug with Garcia.

Khan likely won’t do what Froch would do in his shoes by choosing to retire. He’s probably not even going to consider that option. Instead Khan will likely be put back on a soft diet of 3rd tier opponents in hopes that he can change his game to become more of a pure boxer. I imagine they’re going to attempt to keep him from taking any risks from here on out in his fights, because we’ve seen what happens when Khan tries to impress fans – he gets knocked out.
