For Dirrell to get another crack at Froch, Dirrell will have to beat KO artist Adonis Stevenson (18-1, 14 KO’s) on August 11th in an IBF super middleweight title eliminator bout in Montreal.

As of today, Dirrell’s management are reportedly in negotiations with Stevenson’s promoter to try and put together a fight.

Dirrell said to RingTV “I would love to take that fight because there is no way that he [Stevenson] could beat me. No way! Believe me, I want this fight just as bad as he does…I would love to get a chance to get back at Carl Froch. We’re in negotiations now.”

This is going to be great if this fight can be put together, because Dirrell does have way too much talent for the southpaw Stevenson and we’ll get the chance to see Dirrell show his special skills in front of the entire world. Hopefully, Stevenson’s promoter doesn’t play hardball by not letting Dirrell get the money he deserves for the fight. If not, then Dirrell will move on, and Stevenson will have to fight the next available contender, which in this case is #12 IBF Don George.

Dirrell really wants to get another fight with Froch, though, because he really had his number when they fought in 2009, and had the referee done his job by penalizing Froch multiple times for fouling, Dirrell would have won the fight. Even with Froch not getting penalized for fouling, I still had Dirrell winning by five rounds, and that’s with a point taken off from Dirrell. He simply was schooling Froch the entire fight, and personally thought it was one of the most impressive performances from a fighter that I’ve ever seen before. Dirrell was like a combination of Sugar Ray Robinson, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and a young Muhammad Ali out there against Froch.
