McKenna (McJack): Former World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s) is hopeful that an impressive win over the unpredictable Derek Chisora (15-3, 9 KO’s) will land him a title shot with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO’s). But even though most boxing observers think that Haye is too fast and too good for Chisora, this fight is not a slam dunk for Haye.

The Haye – Chisora fight is a huge grudge match after the infamous brawl following “Del-Boys” loss to Vitali Klitschko. And despite the difficulties in having the fight sanctioned, ticket sales have been brisk for the fight that has drawn huge attention from boxing fans the world over.

Haye’s fans are hopeful that his speed, power and boxing ability will be more than Chisora can handle. But when you look at “The Hayemaker’s” past fights he is not known for throwing a lot of punches and there is some question as to whether he can handle the relentless pressure that Derek exhibited in his matches with Robert Helenius and Vitali Klitschko.

Although Klitschko was hampered by an injured left shoulder, it is noteworthy that Chisora demonstrated an amazing ability to take Vitali’s right hand power shots without going down. Derek also showed that when he is in shape he has good stamina and does not gas out. The question boxing fans have is which Chisora will show up on Saturday night? The fighter who gave a competitive performance in his match with Vitali Klitschko or the out of shape fighter who lost to Tyson Fury in 2011?

If Chisora has gotten himself into fighting shape it could be a very long evening for David Haye. Chisora will undoubtedly attempt to wear Haye down with his aggression. “The Hayemaker” on the other hand will attempt to take potshots at Derek and catch him with his dangerous right hand power shots.

Haye took a big risk in taking the fight with Chisora. If he loses to “Del-Boy” he has no place to go. Any thought of a fight with Vitali Klitschko will be disappear. If Haye defeats Chisora however, and is impressive in doing it, it is doubtful whether Vitali can resist the temptation to have just one more fight so that he can do what his brother Wlaimir was unable to do, that is to KO David Haye.
