Image: Broner vs. Escobedo on SaturdayBy Scott Gilfoid: In a mismatch that will be televised by HB on Saturday night WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (23-0, 19 KO’s) will be facing #1 WBO Vincente Escobedo (26-3, 15 KO’s) in a 12 round bout at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also on the card will be unbeaten welterweight contender Keith Thurman in a 10 round bout against 31-year-old Orlando Lora in a minor test for Thurman.

Broner, 22, is seen by many as the next Floyd Mayweather Jr., and it’s hard for me to argue with that belief because this guy is an amazing talent. For those who still might have some doubts about Broner watch how easily he’ll slice through Escobedo this Saturday. It’s going to be child’s play for Broner, because he’s much stronger and the way more talented fighter. Beating Escobedo will give fans a good gauge to tell the difference between Ecobedo and Robert Guerrero and Michael Katsidis, two fighters that have previously beaten Escobedo.

Broner has destroyed some pretty good fighters in Jason Litzau and Eloy Perez recently. Broner also has a nice 10 round decision win over Daniel Ponce De Leon back in March of last year. Broner made it look easy in beating him and rarely was hit in return.

What Broner needs is to take care of Escobedo early so that he doesn’t let the guy hang around long and get some false hope. There is no no hope for Escobedo, because he doesn’t have the talent to compete with Broner, but I hope Broner puts Escobedo out of his misery early on so that he doesn’t get encouraged.
