Dirrell wants to face Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham in rematches.

Dirrell said to RingTV “They said Nov 17 or Nov 18, or something like that…They’re trying to get me right up there with those big name fighters, like a rematch with Carl Froch, and a rematch with Arthur Abraham.”

Dirrell obviously is talking about down the road a spell, because Froch is already looking at possibly facing Thomas Oosthuizen in October or November, and he’s not about to fight a nightmarish opponent like Dirrell, who made Froch look silly at times in their fight in October 2009 in Nottingham, England. Froch won the fight by a controversial 12 round decision, but even many of his fellow Brits thought Dirrell won comfortably. I had Dirrell winning by a lopsided decision.

I can understand why Dirrell would want to fight Arthur Abraham again, because he fouled Dirrell in the 11th round in their fight in 2010, causing Dirrell to miss an extensive amount of action while he recovered from the blow. Dirrell won the fight by a disqualification, but he wants to show boxing fans that he can beat Abraham and get that fight behind him.

A rematch against Abraham would be an appealing fight if Abraham can get past WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz in August. Dirrell could then face Abraham for the WBO strap, and take it off his hands. Abraham might not be eager to get back in the ring with Dirrell, though, because he was being really schooled by him at the time that Abraham fouled him. Dirrell was the one that gave Abraham his first loss of his career and created a blue print in how to beat him, which was followed by Froch and Andre Ward later on.
