Image: Tim Bradley receiving death threats after win over PacquiaoBy Chris Williams: It seems that some of Manny Pacquiao’s fans aren’t happy that Tim Bradley beat Pacquiao last weekend and snatched his WBO welterweight title in the process in a fine performance from Bradley. Some unhappy fans have taken to sending the 28-year-old Bradley death threats to vent their anger, says Bradley.

Bradley told ESPN 1100 “Definitely on Facebook and Twitter, reading people’s comments, e-mails and people are sending me death threats, telling me to die, telling me to give the belt back.”

Isn’t that sad. Some people can’t take the fact that Pacquiao got beat and are lashing out at Bradley just because he was the one to take down the aging Pacquiao. Why can’t people just realize that all sports heros get old at some point. This is just nature taking it’s proper course. Pacquiao had his time and is now starting to show the signs of getting old. If it wasn’t Bradley, it would be someone else that would expose Pacquiao’s age, believe me.

You can expect to see more of Pacquiao’s underwhelming performances in future bouts until he eventually retires. But to threaten Bradley for merely doing his job in beating an aging lion. That’s just wrong. People to need to stop crying about Pacquiao’s loss and accept that it happened and there’s nothing that can be done about it. Bradley already said that he won’t be giving Pacquiao his WBO title back. If Pacquiao wants it back, he’ll have to face Bradley in a rematch and try to earn it back. But he’s not going to have the title given back outside of the ring.

Pacquiao has slowly been going downhill for the last couple of years, so this isn’t surprising that he finally got beat. A lot of boxing fans think Pacquiao got a gift decision in his fight against 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez last November. Pacquiao tried to blame that performance on him having family problems, but as you saw last Saturday night, Pacquiao looked just as awful in the Bradley fight as he did in the Marquez bout. I believe it’s age, and not family problems that is affecting the Filipino. There’s no going back to what he was in the past. Pacquiao is beyond the point of no return and will continue to deteriorate slowly but surely in future bouts. Pacquiao’s fans can make death threats all they want, but it won’t stop his aging and downward plunge.
