Image: Pacquiao has few appealing options for NovemberBy Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum would love to match Pacquiao back up with 39-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez in a fourth fight on November 10th in Las Vegas. However, that’s probably not the fight that Pacquiao wants or frankly needs right now.

The other option for Pacquiao is a rematch against WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, who because of his controversial win over Pacquiao earlier this month, it takes a lot of the excitement out of a rematch. Fans don’t want to see it, and chances are Pacquiao will struggle to beat Bradley in the rematch because he’ll have two good feet working for him. Other than those two fights, there’s not much available for Manny. Floyd Mayweather Jr. won’t be available to fight in November because he’ll have only been out of jail for two months by then and there’s no way he’ll agree to fighting Pacquiao under those conditions.

The fight probably can’t be put together anyway because of Pacquiao’s insistence in getting a 50-50 cut of the revenue. Pacquiao didn’t have a good argument that he deserved an even split before with his lower pay-per-view numbers, but he really has nothing to say now that he’s been beaten by Bradley and his fight couldn’t match Mayweather’s huge PPV numbers for his win over Miguel Cotto. It’s interesting that the Pacquiao-Bradley PPV numbers still haven’t been released. Don’t expect them to, because obviously they’re too low and it would make it impossible for Pacquiao to ask for a 50-50 deal with Mayweather if they were to be officially released.

Pacquiao won’t get a fight against Cotto, because there’s already talk of Cotto facing Mayweather in December in Madison Square Garden. A fight between Pacquiao and Cotto is a non-starter anyway with Pacquiao insisting that it take place at 147 lbs instead of meeting Cotto halfway at 150. Pacquiao may be able to get his way with the weighs against other fighters, but he can’t do with Cotto anymore. Cotto’s too rich and he was already burned once when he agreed to give the Filipino a catchweight handicap back in 2009 when Cotto was the WBO welterweight champion and Pacquiao was just the challenger.
