Image: Haye: Chisora doesn't understand boxingBy Sean McDaniel: David Haye and Dereck Chisora will face off on July 14th in what should easily be the biggest heavyweight fight in the UK in 2012. 20,000+ tickets have been sold despite the British Boxing Board of Control being strongly against the fight from taking place. There’s an outside chance that the fight could sell as many as 40,000 tickets at Upton Park.

Haye isn’t enthralled with Chisora’s skills, saying to the Dailymail.co.uk “Dereck talks a lot but I’m not sure he actually understands boxing…I believe Chisora is going to come out slinging bombs and that will suit me perfectly.”

Haye promises to show an improved side of his game that the fans haven’t seen before.

Chisora would do well to try and change his game before he faces Haye next month, because if he comes out trying to load up with his big pot shots that he typically uses in his fights, he’s going to get hit with one of Haye’s counter shots. Haye is good at landing shots against guys that load up, and Chisora has really poor form with his wide, slow shots that he likes to throw. He’s the perfect opponent for Haye, because his fundamentals are so poor.

Chisora has gotten away with his wild pot shots in his fights against Robert Helenius and Vitali Klitschko recently, but that was because both guys were slow. They didn’t have the hand speed to come back with counter shots that Chisora would be troubled by.

Haye, who is more of a cruiserweight sized heavyweight, will be able to take advantage of his speed to give Chisora a lot of problems. It’s going to be really tough on Chisora because he’ll probably be loading up with all of his shots looking for a knockout. That’s going to leave him open for Haye’s big power shots.
