Image: Danny Garcia's cockiness could be his downfall against KhanBy Dominic Sauboorah: Rising talent and reigning WBC super lightweight champion Danny Garcia will be facing Amir Khan on July 14th at the Mandalay Bay. Garcia is undefeated and managed to pull off a very convincing win over Erik Morales in his last fight.

Khan said to Sky Sports News that Garcia would be a tricky opponent for him however he was very confident that he would come out victorious. Danny Garcia and his loud mouth father made more blatant and generally foolish comments about the Bolton star, rather than being simple and respecting the better and more proved opponent.

Danny Garcia and his father, who felt the compulsive need to keep interrupting Khan during their press conference yesterday in Los Angeles, believe that Amir is overrated and accused him of complaining to judges during fights; his main example being the controversial points loss Khan suffered to Lamont Peterson, the fighter that was found to be taking synthetic testosterone prior to their first fight and their now cancelled rematch. Also in the face off at the end of the press conference Garcia revealed to reporter Elie Seckbach that he told Amir Khan that he would never beat him. The most ridiculous thing about the press conference however was when Danny Garcia decided to put on a pair of shades, whilst he was inside. Cool guy.

Danny Garcia might be the WBC champion. He might be undefeated. He might be a generally awkward opponent. Nevertheless he’s mouthing to a fighter who’s in a totally different league to him. Garcia is punching above his weight just by getting the fight, but the fact that he’s being cocky about how he’ll knock Khan out, the easily better opponent, is simply disrespectful. It should be a tough night for Khan, but if his ridiculously arrogant opponent keeps over looking him then believe me, Garcia could definitely be in for a world of hurt.
