Image: Carson Jones to end the Kell Brook hype machine on July 7thBy Scott Gilfoid: All good things must end at some point in time, and I think that’s never more apparent with the hype machine surrounding unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (27-0, 18 KO’s), who will be facing talented American Carson Jones (34-8-2, 24 KO’s) on July 7th at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

Brook hasn’t tasted the bitter sweet taste of defeat as of yet, but on July 7th, I suspect he’s going to be foaming at the mouth and ready to gag when Jones shoves defeat right down his throat for Brook to taste in front of his loyal British fan. The loss of course will be a huge setback for Brook’s title shot hopes, as he was counting on winning this fight in order to get a shot at the IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey. I’m sorry that probably won’t happen because Bailey isn’t about to take on the loser of the Brook-Jones fight. He’s only interested in the winners and the big names, not the guys that are coming off of losses and still licking their wounds.

Jones has the power advantage in this fight. I think he’s got one of the best right hands in the division if not the best. He can KO you with a single shot when he lands that beauty of a fight hand. Jones’ left hand isn’t that bad either for that matter.

Brook doesn’t have the same power that Jones possesses and is more of a fighter that gets by with throwing a lot of shots against lesser opposition. Brook won’t be able to stand in there with the hard hitting Jones without taking serious punishment and getting hurt. With a huge British crowd egging him on, Brook will likely fight without thinking. Spurred on by the crowd, Brook will be mindlessly looking for a KO, and that in turn will make Jones’ job that much easier.

Jones is like a surgeon, as he always stays calm and uses his mind when he fights. He’s a thinking fighter and with Brook just looking for a KO, it’s going to be easy for Jones to expose him in front of his loyal following.
