Image: Broner to show his talent against EscobedoBy Scott Gilfoid: Boxing fans are going to be seeing boxing’s next superstar on July 21st with WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (23-0, 19 KO’s) showing his stuff against challenger Vincente Escobedo (26-3, 15 KO’s) in an HBO televised bout at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

HBO knows talent when they see it, which is the reason why HBO is showing all of the 22-year-old Broner’s fights nowadays. It’s a smart move because Broner is destined for greatness. There’s nobody in the super featherweight or lightweight divisions that can touch this major talent. Broner would make easy work of the likes of Ricky Burns, Juan Carlos Salgado, Takashi Uchiyama, Takahiro Aoh, Miguel Vazquez and Antonio DeMarco. Those guys can’t hold a candle to the talent that Broner has going for him.

Broner is a counter punch in the classic Mayweather mold, but with more power for his weight class. He’s going to have a fun time picking the 30-year-old Escobedo apart on July 21st, because Escobedo will be leaving a lot of openings for Broner to take advantage of.

Broner has blasted out 13 of his last 14 opponents dating back to June 2009. The only guy that’s made it the distance against him during that time was Daniel Ponce De Leon, who was a big step up in competition for the then 21-year-old Broner. Since then, Broner has picked up a lot more seasoning with wins over Jason Litzau, Vincente Rodriguez and Eloy Perez.

If Broner were to be put back in the ring with Ponce De Leon now, I have no doubts that Broner would wipe the deck with him in no time flat. Broner is just too good, and he’s improving with each fight. The guy that fought De Leon to a 12 round decision is no longer there. Broner has progressed to another level to where he’d wipe guys like De Leon with no problems.
