Image: Broner looking to take his star power to another level with a win over EscobedoBy Scott Gilfoid: The highly talented WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (23-0, 10 KO’s) is ready to take over for stars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao to carry the sport of boxing for the next 10 years on his shoulder as he gets ready to make easy work of #1 WBO Vincente Escobedo )26-3, 15 KO’s) next month on July 21st at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Broner, 22, is one of the most talented fighters in the game and with his Mayweather-eque style of fighting, he’s got the game that entertains. The only thing that Broner is lacking right now is experience and a big named opponent that he can take out to get him to the next level. Broner needs that one big name on his resume to make him a pay per view attraction like Pacquiao and Mayweather. Unfortunately, the super featherweight division isn’t the division where the big names are at right now. Broner will have to move up to at least the light welterweight division if he wants to get the huge money, because there isn’t any big names at lightweight. He can move up one division but it won’t make any difference. He needs to get to 140 at least so he can knock off someone like Amir Khan, Tim Bradley, Humberto Soto or Lucas Matthysse to get him to the next level. The 5’7″ Broner has the frame to put on weight, and his speed is good enough to where he’ll still be fast even after he moves up two weight divisions.

As far as his fight against Escobedo goes, this will be a sick slaughter. Escobedo isn’t in Broner’s class and never will be.

Broner will highlight how much better he in than him when they meet up, and I see things going really badly for Escobedo before the fight is eventually halted.
