Image: HBO needs a new director for the Pacquiao-Bradley 24/7 episodesBy Chris Williams: Whoever is running the show at HBO for the Pacquiao-Bradley 24/7 episodes, I think they need to be fired. That is the most boring stuff I’ve seen and it’s not getting any better.

If I was Bob Arum of Top Rank, I’d be putting some fire underneath the backsides of the HBO 24/7 people to get them to start editing out all the boring stuff and put some actual boxing related information in the series.

Here are a few things that Arum needs to have HBO put the clamps on:

* Video of Pacquiao talking about the bible and how changed his life
* Pacquiao singing or playing the guitar
* Tim Bradley talking about his family
* Tim Bradley talking about how rough he had it when he was growing up
* Pacquiao playing it nice with people

What we need is some intensity here from both of the fighters. Pacquiao needs to start showing emotion. His facial expressions are too wooden, and that emotionless, flat affect doesn’t get the job done in exciting fans. I’d like see Pacquiao going off on and describing in detail what he hates about Bradley, and what’s he’s going to do to him in the ring.

Pacquiao needs to start talking trash. The idea behind the 24/7 series is that they’re trying to sell the fight for the pay-per-view audience. Pacquiao looks like he’s phoning in his performance. I just wish I was directing the show. I’d be stopping the tape left and right to give cues for Pacquiao and Bradley. Both of them need serious work. But all this wasted film on Pacquiao talking about his religion. I don’t understand it. Maybe like 10 seconds would be okay, but I’d give a nod to the cameraman to shut off the tape when Pacquiao is going into one of his monologues. You got see the big picture here. Someone needs to keep him on point for what he’s actually trying to do.
