Image: Froch can forget about a rematch with Bute if he gets brutally knocked outBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is hoping he can get a second fight with IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute after their first fight coming up on May 26th in Nottingham, UK. The second fight is tentatively scheduled to take place in Bute’s adopted country of Canada in Montreal.

However, Froch can pretty much forget about that second fight if he gets brutally knocked out by Bute on May 26th, which is how I see the fight going down.

The second fight between Froch and Bute hinges on the first fight being competitive, and there being an actual demand from fans in seeing the two sluggers go at it again. The problem is Bute is the most perfect body puncher perhaps in history of the game, and Froch hasn’t had much experience in facing anyone throws body shots. Froch’s goose is going to be cooked and plucked clean by Bute on the 26th, and there’s not much Froch can do about it. Bute has a numbers of ways he can beat you. The body punching is the worst because it’s so painful, but Bute is just as good as knocking guys out with head shots, and out-boxing them. Like I said, Bute can take his pick of how he wants to pluck Froch clean in this fight, and there’s not much Froch can do about it.

Bute is going to be all over Froch in this fight, and I see it going badly for Froch. The body shots are going to be what sinks Froch. He’ll be able to peck away with his shots until Bute lands that one huge killer body shot that will send Froch down in agony on the canvas. The fight will have to be stopped because there’s no way that Froch will be able to make it back to his feet by the time the referee has counted to 10. Even if he does somehow make it back to his feet, Froch will just get send back down again when Bute lands another ferocious body shot.

I don’t know what Froch can do after this fight, because he’ll have lost two consecutive fights and three out of his last five bouts. I guess he can hang around and maybe look to regain some glory by taking on one or both of the Dirrell brothers, but I see him losing to both of them badly, unless the fight takes place in Nottingham where Froch previously got a questionable decision over Andre Dirrell.
