Image: David Price, a huge year aheadBy Pete Simpson: After what we all will agree was a faultless performance in destroying Sam Sexton recently, David Price could be forgiven for getting ahead of himself at this stage of his career with his future looking very bright indeed.

But those who have seen anything of David over the past few years know that we will get non of the usual bravado, ego, over hype and hysteria from his camp as he knows that there is still plenty of work to do in order to fulfill his full potential.

So what should the next 12 months look like for a man who is blitzing all of the domestic level opposition out of the equation with consummate ease?

Well in my opinion I feel it is time to put a marquee name on the CV and although it is going to be very difficult to get most fighters into the ring (as we have seen with Tyson Fury recently) his promoter Frank Maloney would be well advised to open the cheque book and give someone a big payday in order to test his man.

Apart for the K2 brothers, I genuinely believe that Price beats any heavyweight on the planet, even at this early stage of his career but I also think that for any of the top 10 guys like Povetkin, Boytsov, Helenius, Adamek or Arreola, Price represents too much of a risk right now due to his low profile and murderous punching ability.

So can Frank Maloney make a fight with some of the beaten fighters on the Klitschko record? Shannon Briggs, Samuel Peter or Jean-Marc Mormeck would be likely candidates and keen for a big payday and this will give us a really good yard stick as to how close Price is to a genuine shot at the brothers. Could he take out Shannon Briggs over 12 rounds, Yes. Would he look more impressive then either brother against Peters and knock him out in under 8, Undoubtedly. And would JM Mormeck make it into the 4th round, almost certainly not.

So what are we waiting for Frank, Price’s future looks incredibly bright and all of us fans are dying to see what happens next!
