Mayweather looked ready to pounce on Cotto during their 70 second stare down. That was one of the longer stare downs you’re going to see, and it looked like Mayweather was trying his best to get into the head of Cotto. It wasn’t working until the end when Mayweather, smiling and talking trash, got close to Cotto and you could see that Cotto looked like he was starting to come unglued.

The confidence that Cotto had was gone by the end of the stare down, and he looked like the same fighter that was facing Antonio Margarito in their first fight. Mayweather did his job well with the stare down. Now the trick is to see if he can take advantage of this tomorrow night when he faces Cotto for real in front of 20,000 fans at the MGM Grand.

According to the USA Today, Mayweather told Cotto that he’s “Facing the best and to be ready.”

Cotto in turn said “I’m here to fight. If he wants to run, I’m ready for that. I’m ready for anything.”

I don’t think Mayweather is capable of running anymore even if he wanted to. Mayweather appears to have lost the ability to run around the ring like he used to. He can glide around, but he’s not going to run like he did in the Carlos Baldomir fight years ago. Besides, Mayweather changed his style after that fight due to the criticism he received from boxing fans.

Cotto looked in shape, but I think he may overdone it a tad bit because he was a little too thin. He’s got that new trainer Pedro Diaz, and he may have over did it a bit with all these strange looking exercises that may not have helped Cotto any.
