By Sean McDaniel: 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 Ko’s) showed that his power is still intact last night in stopping Ali Adams (13-4-1, 5 KO’s) in the 4th round at the Brentwood Centre, Brentwood, Essex.

Harrison blasted Adams out with a flurry of punches in the 4th round to get the stoppage. Adams was trapped against the ropes and couldn’t escape Harrison’s bombardment of punches.

In the 1st round, Harrison landed a few nice left hands mostly fought cautiously, trying not to get hit. Adams rushed him a couple of times but was only able to land glancing shots.

In the 2nd round, Adams put more pressure on Harrison, but was unable to land cleanly. It looked like Adams was afraid to run into one of Harrison’s big left hands or uppercuts, because he wasn’t fighting with as much aggression as I’d seen from him in the past.

Adams attacked Harrison hard in the 3rd round, backing him up against the ropes and landing a few shots. However, he missed badly with a big right hand and was countered with a chopping left hand from Harrison late in the round. Adams showed a good chin by not going down.

In the 4th, Harrison finally got it over with after hurting Adams with a left hand. He went after him and unloaded on Adams along the ropes until the referee halted the fight.

I thought Harrison performed very well. He didn’t look like a fighter that had been off for more than a year, and his power is still top noche.
