Image: Mayweather Sr: Saul Alvarez is going to beat Mosley; this could be Shane's last hurrahBy Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Sr. sees WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (39-0-1, 29 KO’s) beating the 40-year-old Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39 KO’s) on May 5th and possibly sending him into retirement.

Mayweather Sr. said to Eastsideboxing.com’s On the Ropes Boxing Radio “I see Alvarez coming out on top. I see Alvarez beating Shane Mosley…Right now man it’s near the end for Shane Mosley…I think this will be his last hurrah. I think after this fight, Shane fights no more.”

I wish I could agree with Mayweather Sr. seeing Mosley retiring because I don’t see that happening. Mosley is still too much in demand by the younger lions not willing to face any real threats in trying to build their names up. I can see Mosley still fighting after he gets beaten by Alvarez next month on May 5th on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are fighters out there like Amir Khan and Kell Brook that would jump at the chance to fight Mosley next, even if Mosley gets beaten up by Alvarez. A loss to Alvarez will obviously be a negative for Mosley’s career, but if guys like Khan and Brook are willing to pay Mosley good money to face them, then I can see him hanging on to get all the biggest names he can to help pad his retirement years.

After all, once Mosley is retired, he likely won’t be getting the kinds of paydays that he’s now getting by being the opponent for top fighters like Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Alvarez.

Mayweather Sr. thinks Mosley can maybe give Alvarez some problems if he comes into the fight in really good shape, but he still sees him having problems against the younger Alvarez.
