Alexander, 25, and his team was briefly in discussion with undefeated welterweight contender Kell Brook’s team, but the two were unable to come to an agreement.

According to Rafael, Brook wanted Alexander to fight on July 7th in the UK, whereas Alexander wanted the fight to take place on August 18th in the United States. As such, the fight couldn’t be put together because neither Brook or Alexander were opening to moving from their stance. Alexander fights in front of huge crowds of 10,000 in Saint Louis, so it’s understandable why he would want the fight to take place in the United States. And Brook just finished fighting in front of a huge crowd of 9000 fans in the UK with his fight against Matthew Hatton. He obviously wants to keep making good money fighting at home, but he’s picked the wrong guy. If Brook wants to get a popular fighter over to the UK so he can maximize revenge for himself, he’ll need to pick a popular fighter without a big U.S fan base because otherwise he’ll have no luck.

Alexander recently defeated Marcos Maidana by a lopsided 10 round unanimous decision last February in Saint Louis. Maidana was soundly beaten in a lopsided fight from start to finish, and Alexander looked the best he had in quite some time. After that performance, Alexander might have problems trying to find opposition willing to face him.
